Now that George Bush is no longer President of these United States I think it is only a matter of time before there is a pro wrestler with a “holy roller” gimmick.
I know Brother Love did it for a little while back in the Macho era. Yet, he wasn’t really a wrestler, but a ringside personality.
Brother Love’s deal was a bit more shtick and camp than I’m talking about, too. I’m talking about someone possessed with the Wrath of God. Someone who is absolutely convinced that their actions are guided by a higher power. It would be interesting to see if someone like this came off as a heel or a face in the Bible Belt, who did in fact, vote for GWB twice even though (or because) he said God told him to invade Iraq.
The real pity is that if someone ever did come up with a gimmick like this, they would probably play it less like Klaus Kinski in Aguirre and more like SID VICIOUS / JUSTICE / SYCHO SID.
