Dear Past Self,
It would do you well to not read Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD over one week when you are going through a particularly rough and confusing period in your life. You would certainly do well to read things that might cheer you up, instead. Maybe some Philip K. Dick or R.A. Heinlein. Even Kafka or Murakami would be better. At least Kafka had a black sense of humor. However, if you insist on reading about charred babies on spits, decapitated heads, harvesting people for cannibalism, infinite winter, and desperate starvation, by all means go right ahead you masochist you.

Sincerely,
Adam
